Plumber in Glenroy

Licensed plumbing, drainage and gas fitting across Glenroy, where the houses went up in the 1950s and the drains under them have had seventy years to crack.

Plumbing and gas fitting in Glenroy

Glenroy is a short drive north-west of our Preston base, out past Coburg. Our phone's answered 24 hours a day, so an emergency here is attended the same day in most cases.

Most of Glenroy was built in a rush after the Second World War, when the War Service Homes Commission and the Housing Commission developed large parts of the suburb through the 1950s. The sewer lines laid then were clay, and seventy years of shifting ground and tree roots have cracked plenty of them. Glenroy is also changing fast. Old blocks are being sold, split and rebuilt as two or three townhouses, and each of those jobs starts with a drain nobody has looked at since it went in. That's where a camera earns its keep. We run it through the line before anyone buys, builds or digs, and you get the footage showing exactly what's down there.

  • We had heaps of issues with blocked drainage at our old property in the Darebin area. We didn’t really know what was going on, nor did the guys before AC. Driveway flooding became a bit of an issue. When we called AC he arrived the same afternoon and sorted it quick fast! He’s got all the right gear and set up. Actually, I’m writing this 3 months since his visit and no dramas! I’ve referred him to a couple of friends and they’ve both got good feedback... Would definitely use them again!

FAQs

Frequently asked questions

Answers to the questions we are asked most often. If your question is not covered here, call us.

  • I'm buying an older house in Glenroy. Should I get the drains checked?

It's worth it on a 1950s house. A building inspection looks at the house, and it can't see the pipe under the yard. A camera inspection runs the full length of the sewer line and shows any cracks, root intrusion or sagging, with the footage supplied for your records. A cracked line found before you sign is a price conversation. Found after, it's your bill.

  • We're putting townhouses on our block. Can the old sewer be reused?

Sometimes, and a camera is how you find out. If the existing line is sound and in the right place, it may be able to stay. If it's cracked, full of roots or running under where a new building will sit, it needs replacing, and it's far cheaper to know that before the slab goes down. New sewer connections also need approval from the water authority, so check that early in your planning.

  • Do you cover all of Glenroy?

Yes. We cover the whole of 3046, Hadfield and Oak Park included. That's from the Western Ring Road down to Pascoe Vale, and from the Moonee Ponds Creek across to the Glenroy station shops. Pascoe Vale and Fawkner next door as well.

  • How quickly can you get here?

Our phone is answered 24 hours a day, seven days a week. We are based in Preston and work across the northern suburbs, so response times are short. For emergencies we will give you a realistic arrival time on the phone, and advise you on isolating the water or gas in the meantime.

  • What does a call-out cost?

You receive a free quote before any work begins. We assess the job, explain what is involved and confirm the price with you. No work goes ahead until you have approved it.

  • Do you work after hours and on weekends?

Yes. We are available 24 hours a day, seven days a week for emergency plumbing and gas work.

  • Which suburbs do you cover?

Preston, Reservoir, Thornbury, Northcote, Fairfield, Ivanhoe, Heidelberg, Heidelberg West, Macleod, Greensborough, Bundoora, Mill Park, Epping, Lalor, Thomastown, Coburg, Brunswick, Fawkner, Glenroy and Pascoe Vale, along with the surrounding northern suburbs. If you are just outside this area, call us and ask.

  • Can you find a drain fault without digging?

In most cases, yes. We run a CCTV camera through the line and record the condition of the pipe, which identifies the fault and its depth from the surface. Any excavation is then limited to that one location.

  • Do you do gas fitting as well as plumbing?

Yes. We install and connect gas appliances, run new gas points, detect and repair leaks, and carry out carbon monoxide safety checks. Every gas installation is tested and certified on completion.
